Breed specific foods became available. Dog food is much more nutritious nowadays. Better dog food has been developed for certain breeds that are prone to certain diseases. This should not be surprising. Why would dogs not have nutritional needs for health if humans do? Manufactures are even adding prebiotics and probiotics for dogs, much like humans consume.
