It is important that you do not ignore the request for a CE. Most people wrongly think that Social Security will do the CE. Examinations are done by a practicing physician who is not on the Social Security staff, but is simply a contractor with the agency. When you go to your CE, it will be like visiting any other physician. The CE for one claimant may be quite different from another, since it is dependent upon the amount of medical data the claims examiner requires to gain a solid picture of your condition.
